Another 綾辻行人 感想

Another by Yukito Ayatsuji

I’m glad…
Ayatsuji’s works are enjoyable!

The following contains spoilers for both volumes!

Who would have thought that Mikami-sensei and Reiko were the same person…
Ugh, I didn’t realize it at all…
I suspected that Sakakibara-kun was the dead one, but I was off the mark…

Hmm, why did Numata’s wife commit such a heinous act?
She committed suicide, so it remains a mystery…
It turns out she was Takabayashi’s grandmother, but does her action have anything to do with Takabayashi’s death?
Since the people who died did so for a reason, albeit coincidentally, there must have been something driving Numata’s wife too…
Hmm, maybe some trigger drove her into a state of mental disarray?
If it was because of her grandson Takabayashi’s death, then that could serve as an explanation?

We managed to sort out Sakakibara-kun’s age, but the curse hasn’t been lifted, has it?
But now that a method to counteract it has been found, could it be passed down through generations to prevent any more deaths?
Still, it means having to find and kill the dead person again, right…?
It’s not just me thinking like Teshigawara, but the risk of making a mistake is too great…

Would this disaster have continued without Misaki’s ability to see death?
It seems everything was arranged so that the accounts would balance out, including the consciousness of the dead?
I wonder if there’s a way to see through it…
Even knowing the countermeasure, it seems impossible to apply it…

If changing to Class C doesn’t work, why not just eliminate Class 3 altogether?
Is skipping the number 3 not an option?
Hmm, a solid reason is needed, isn’t it?
But with the deaths occurring, wouldn’t it be better to just eliminate Class 3…
After all, if people are dying at a rate of more than once every two years related to a class, shouldn’t people be concerned?
Even if they haven’t noticed that Class 3 is particularly cursed, wouldn’t rumors spread about deaths at Yomiyama North…
If rumors have spread, what do those arranging the class rosters think when placing students in Class 3…

Student rosters!
And they include addresses and phone numbers, right…?
Maybe that was acceptable given the era of the story?

Memory alteration, and even tampering with documents…
It’s a tremendous level of supernatural phenomenon, isn’t it?
Or maybe, it’s just that the perception of the individuals is manipulated so they can’t recognize the documents correctly?
Still, it’s incredible…

Hmm, do the memories of those involved become vague over time, so it doesn’t become a rumor?
But, people remember who died, right?
Sakakibara-kun remembered his mother’s death, so the dead are indeed remembered.
So, the reason it doesn’t become a rumor is…?
Hmm, a detective was investigating the curse, right?
Are there rumors?
So, it’s just that no specific action has been taken?
Maybe everyone thinks they’ll be fine…
But if the deaths among Yomiyama North’s affiliates continue, won’t the area eventually depopulate to the point where they can’t even form a Class 3?
Then, would the curse end?

Hmm, if it’s a curse, couldn’t it be dealt with through exorcism or something?
If there’s someone who can see the dead like Misaki, they could prevent the yearly deaths, right?
There was also something mentioned about not telling outsiders too much, but wouldn’t that be better than having people die?
But if it involves something beyond human comprehension, involving outsiders carelessly could result in the curse not being stopped, right?
Then, would that responsibility fall on the person who involved them?
Ah, when human lives are at stake, there might be many things that can’t be risked…

It was enjoyable…
